Ive Got the Big Bad B Word on My Job!

That "B" word---B O R E D O M.

How did I get this wearing word in my work?

I got it because I don't have enough to do in my job! Yes, I have completed my assigned tasks, but I have time left over, which leads to boredom.

I know that all kinds of jobs have boredom connected to them, "little bores" or "big bores", if I reduce the concept to the small items I just mentioned.

I have to find a way to reduce the boredom I feel to make myself feel better about my job and myself. I'll start here by listing what I can do to help myself.

First, I will ask for more assignments in my job. I will complete them in a timely manner, along with my assigned tasks.

Secondly, I will volunteer for more complicated tasks and finish them.

Thirdly, I will use my free time more productively away from the job to create more meaningful tasks for myself.

In fourth place, if I find that I cannot broaden the job to meet more of my needs, I will look at other departments to find a job that meets more of my competencies. Maybe, I'm bored because the job and I are mis-matched.

Lastly, I will talk to a trusted friend, family member or counselor to find out if I'm bored about being bored! If my expectations about work are too high, then I will be bored no matter what I undertake. I gotta' get this bored feeling out of my life!
